Pupils Head for County Gymnastics Championships

Congratulations to Katie Screen, Isabelle Kiely, Ella-Mai Hawkins, Annika Watkins, Millie Liddington and Ruby Cooper following their success in the second round of the Keysteps District Gymnastic Competition. Overcoming their anxiety and nerves, the girls went onto beat pupils from six other Forest schools to win gold medals and become District Champions.

“The quality of performance from all schools was really high, and the bar had really been raised for this championship,” said Mrs Henson, Principal of Primrose Hill Church of England Academy. “Our gymnasts didn’t put a foot wrong and once again, conducted themselves with grace, determination and great pride.”

During the competition, pupils competed in a variety of disciplines, including vaulting and floor routines. Staff, pupils and parents from Primrose Hill will now have to wait until Wednesday 9 March to see whether they continue to enjoy the same degree of success at the County finals.

"We have invested considerable time in training and developing staff expertise to improving our range of sports on offer through extra curricular and enrichment opportunities, and feel this is a direct result of the impact of the Sports Premium funding," said Vicki Henson.
